This cover feature article was written for The Pathologist, a specialist scientific and medical publication aimed at experts in pathology and laboratory medicine. Work included interviewing, writing, editing, proofreading, and data processing and visualization.

I’m a Scientist; Get Me Out of Here!

“I’m a Scientist” is a student-led STEM enrichment activity that connects school students, teachers, parents, and non-traditional learners with scientists through energetic real-time text-based chats and unlimited opportunities to ask questions.

Participants apply and are selected for the program, which includes a popular vote competition for best science communicator. In March 2020, I was voted winner of the Nihonium Zone (general science).

Custom Science Education

I give a variety of interactive talks, presentations, and workshops on various aspects of science. These can serve any age group in any setting; previous venues have included conferences, conventions, workplaces, schools, museums, and even festivals.

“Making a Monster” is a popular draw-along workshop that teaches evolution, ecology, and plausible creature design. It’s popular in schools, at conventions, and among fiction and media creators.
